Full original description

RenewCO₂ commercializes electrochemical processes to convert CO₂ emissions into carbon-negative materials. What distinguishes us from other CO₂ reduction approaches is our proprietary catalyst, which enables an energy-efficient and selective pathway to existing valuable commodity chemicals, such as formic acid, ammonia, monoethylene glycol, sustainable aviation fuel, and more. Our products can access existing markets, and our economics are projected to be competitive or advantageous compared to current fossil-based production. We will be in a position to offer differentiated carbon-negative products at competitive prices, thereby having a significant impact on emissions and society. We're seeking highly motivated team leaders and members who want to make a significant positive impact on climate change and are excited to work in a collaborative team setting.

The RenewCO₂ leadership team includes experts in electrochemical catalysis and industrial systems, including Dr. Anders Laursen, Dr. Karin Calvinho, and Dr. Chock Karuppaiah, along with industry leaders such as Arne Ballantine (Founder, Ohmium; former Bloom Energy CEO) and Srushti Parhar (ex-Bloom Energy, software industry veteran). Additional leadership team members bring deep expertise from the chemicals and oil & gas sectors across U.S. and Japanese markets and will actively mentor and support selected candidates.

Role Overview

We are looking for an Electrochemical Engineer to support the development, testing, and scale-up of CO₂ electrolysis systems.

This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy working in the lab, building systems, troubleshooting experiments, and translating science into real hardware.

Type: Full-time, in person at our office/laboratory in Chikkaballapur (in the Bengaluru region).

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute electrochemical testing and fabrication, including cell construction and electrode coating
  • Prepare solutions, reagents, and material samples
  • Operate and maintain electrochemical testing equipment
  • Calibrate critical lab equipment, conduct routine testing, and maintain laboratory supplies
  • Perform a variety of laboratory experiments using both routine (GC, HPLC, chronoamperometry, chronopotentiometry) and special techniques
  • Record, organize, and properly document procedures and results
  • Support scale-up activities and process optimization efforts
  • Comply with all safety and control standards
  • Communicate technical information and results to team members in oral and written formats

Qualifications

  • B.Tech. / B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related field (preferred but not required)
  • 1+ years of experience working in an analytical or wet lab setting (preference for experience with cell characterization)
  • Competent data analysis skills (Excel at minimum)
  • Experience in handling hazardous materials (desirable)
  • Able to work independently and under minimal supervision in a fast-paced, startup atmosphere with excellent attention to detail
  • Judgment and action skills required to solve commonly encountered problems
  • Possess a robust fundamental understanding of laboratory equipment and good laboratory practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple experiments simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner

Compensation

  • Starting from ₹4 LPA for entry level candidates
  • Compensation will be commensurate with experience, skills, and demonstrated hands-on expertise

Why Join RenewCO₂

  • Work on cutting-edge CO₂ electrolysis and climate technologies
  • Direct exposure to scale-up and real-world system building
  • Mentorship from globally recognized experts in electrochemistry
  • Opportunity to grow rapidly with a deep-tech startup from an early stage
